Jason Lee Bruns (b. Oct. 3rd 1979, Coldwater, Ohio) is an American drummer, multi-percussionist, bandleader, arranger, producer, educator, and recording engineer/mixer based in Los Angeles, California (since 2003).  Performance highlights include Beck (“Sound & Vision” performance and video), Game of Thrones (season III commercial), Lewis Price (singer of The Temptations), and Liane Carroll (2x BBC Jazz Award Winner). Under his own billing the “Jason Lee Bruns Collective” performs for sold-out audiences at Los Angeles' top jazz venues, and is touring Japan with his band this April.  Jason holds Masters’ degrees in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern California and Music Production from Berklee College of Music, preceded by a Bachelor’s in Classical Percussion from Miami University (Ohio).  Jason has done field research of folkloric rhythms in West Africa, Brazil, Cuba, and Trinidad.  As an educator Jason founded the World Drumming Ensembles, two Steel Bands, and three levels of Recording Arts & Production at a selective private high school in North Hollywood, CA.  His private studio,, has a wait list and averages 10 students a week. His method on teaching rhythmic reading/notation was published by the Percussive Arts Society (Aug 2007 issue of “Percussive Notes”).   As a producer he has 8 albums on his own label, Panout Music Group, including his latest album “Cherry Avenue” - a collaboration with singer Kevin Bachelder - which was on the 58th Grammy nomination ballot.  His prior album “Live at Catalina Jazz Club” was #1 on CMJ Top Jazz Adds and charted at #8 amongst Chick Corea (#9), Joey DeFrancesco (#12), and Trombone Shorty (#13). Both albums can be heard on ~300 FM radio stations across the country including Los Angeles’ KJAZZ (KKJZ 88.1FM / as well as Pandora and Spotify. Jason is a member of the American Federation of Musician's (Local 47), BMI, the Percussive Arts Society, the Recording Academy, and is an AVID certified ProTools instructor.
